Welcome to PEF MENDELU

Welcome to the Faculty of Business and Economics at Mendel University in Brno. By enrolling in your studies, you become part of an academic community with defined rights and responsibilities based on university regulations and Czech higher education law. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the official rules, ethical standards, and study requirements available on faculty and university websites.

Informational meetingFor newly arrived incoming students for summer semester 2025/26:

February 17th, 2029
(9:30)
big meeting room at Dean’s office, ground floor, building Q

During your first days, ensure you complete essential administrative tasks, such as signing your accommodation contract, registering with the foreign police, and enrolling with the study department. You will also receive your timetable, study confirmation, and arrange your ISIC card photo.

Confirmation for the foreign police

The Confirmation for the foreign police confirms that the student fulfilled all requirements to be allowed to get into the following semester and it can be provided only to the student who has achieved at least 15 ECTS credits in the first semester and/or to the student who has achieved at least 40 ECTS credits altogether over the two preceding semesters. For doctoral studies, see the study obligation and organisation on the Doctoral degree website.

The Confirmation for the Foreign Police can be issued only for one academic year. It means that the Confirmation for the Foreign Police can be issued for the period from September to August. If you come to the Study Department and ask for the Confirmation for the Foreign Police in the middle of the academic year the Confirmation can’t be provided for the period which is in fact related to the next academic year but only for one semester.

The Confirmation for the Foreign Police can be issued by petra.katolicka@mendelu.cz

VISA

The university is not responsible for your visa status! Students must check their visa documents and apply for an extension on time (90 to 120 days before expiration).

As a current student, you likely have one of the two types of legal stay in Czechia:
1) Long-term study visa
2) Long-term residence permit for study purposes

You can apply for renewal of either of those permit types here in Prague. Both applications have to be filed at the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) offices according to your place of residence or at the special MOI office designated for university students only.

To comfortably live in Brno, it is recommended to obtain a public transport card, Czech phone number, and local bank account. International students staying longer than three months must also register and pay the municipal waste fee through the Brno iD system.

To continue your studies, you must earn at least 15 credits in the first semester and 40 credits across two consecutive semesters while always being enrolled in at least one course. Bachelor’s studies require 180 credits and a final state exam, while Master’s studies require 120 credits and a defended thesis.

All relevant documents for your studies are located on the Official noticeboard.

All study administration is handled through the University Information System (UIS), where you register for courses and exams, access materials, check results, and read official email. Students are required to monitor their university email regularly and keep personal data up to date..Upon arrival, each student receives access to UIS.

If you lose your credentials, there are two ways to recover them:

  • If you have not set up password recovery in UIS, you need to request a password reset from the system integrator of your faculty: list of system integrators
  • If you have set up password recovery to an external email, visit the following link: Password Recovery
